Aluksnes triathlon 2025
on June 21 and 22, we had one of the biggest triathlon competitions in Latvia – Aluksnes triathlon days – in Ligo festive mood. This year was special with several novelties – the competition was held for the first time in two days, and athletes made their debut on the first day in the Aluksnes open water swim!
While the weather was dank and slightly rainy, it was no barrier to more than 260 athletes who traveled to Aluksnes to throw themselves into the water on day one - taking part in an open-water swim and relay - but to assert their strength in triathlon disciplines on day two. These were important competitions – as last year, young people fought for medals at the Latvian Open Youth Championships, but this year the strongest athletes competed in the Latvian Championship in a standard distance.
We are particularly pleased with the large number of participants in the relay – 8 teams matched the forces in the triathlon relay and 6 more started in the relay. The relay was a great opportunity not only for experienced athletes, but also for local Alooks to get to know the magic of triathlon sport.
Thank you sincerely to everyone who helped make these competitions a real celebration, from a team of organisers and volunteers to the athletes themselves, who were also unafraid to scale the long way to Aluksnes. Of course, thank you very much to our supporters – without whom we would not have made it this far. We also thank viewers, participant relatives, friends and all the fans who helped create a special festive feel with their presence on these chilly but beautiful days.
We recall that the results of the competition can be consulted on the website aluksnestriatlons.lv, where you can also find photos from both days of the competition.
Is already open login For the Adazi Multisport Championship, which will run on August 24 and will offer competitions in both the open water swim and the aquatlon!
Thank you all and see you in Adazi very soon!
Our work LTF
The Latvian Triathlon Federation (LTF) is the main organization monitoring Latvian Triathlon sports. We are proud that three TRI can members also serve on the LTF board.
Evita Leitane, who has been elected to the board of LTF for the second time, develops the movement of triathlon judges in Latvia, ensuring that triathlon judges are competent and educated in court for triathlon competitions in Latvia. Evita is head of the LTF Judicial Council.
Maris Liepa LTF has also been elected to the board for a second term. Maris LTF shall draw up the by-law of the Latvian Cup, the by-law of licences, as well as be responsible for the minimum standards of competitions. As an internationally certified triathlon coach, Maris is also active on the LTF coaching board.
Lukass Lappuke LTF stood for the first time in the board elections and, thanks to its enthusiasm and vision, received the support of LTF legal members to work on the board! Lukass LTF is working on improving the federation's visual identity and digitizing processes to make LTF's work more transparent and make LTF services easier for triathletes.
“United in Freedom” story
After marathons and triathlons, ultramarathons and 24-hour running competitions, Tri Kan club members Aijen and Lukass tested their physical and mental endurance in an unprecedented physical challenge!
The two friends, in honour of the 35-year anniversary of the Baltic Road, ran out, drove out and swam the Baltic Road route in two nights to reveal what role freedom plays in our unity and courage.
Overall, from Tallinn to Vilnius, 11.4 km of swimming in Harku Lake in Tallinn, biking 570 km and running 126.6 km.
Aijens and Lukass were the first to beat the Baltic way in this way, reminding them of the Baltic way, a unique historical event when, in 1989, the people of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined hands in advocating for independence and freedom of their countries.
you can watch Lukass and Aijen's adventures in the GO3 documentary “United in Freedom”.
