We are a sports club founded by experienced swimming and triathlon enthusiasts. Among us are both professional European-level athletes and local Latvian champions who compete in both short, medium and long distances.
Club actively participates athletes, coaches and internationally qualified triathlon referees with the aim to promote the triathlon sport and raise the quality of triathlon competitions in Latvia.
Sports club TRI KAN has been operating since 2021, has already gathered 50 club members and is a legal member of the Latvian Triathlon Federation.
With the aim of representing their interests, building a community of like-minded triathlon enthusiasts and raising the quality of competitions, Māris and Edgars decide to found Triathlon and Swimming Club TRI KAN. The club's logo is a purple lizard.
TRI KAN translation – “K’an” is the creator of the universe, symbolizing an inner fire that is the basis of life force. In Mayan mythology, “Kan” is associated with a snake or lizard and symbolizes the energy of life. Snakes or lizards in ancient cultures were often associated with life force and regeneration. The word “K’an” describes a being that symbolizes cosmic energy and life force, referring to an “inner fire” that may mean the source of life energy.
The club becomes a legal member of the Latvian Triathlon Federation and organizes its first competition - Alūksne Triathlon 2022. Including the organization of the championship in the sprint distance!
The tradition of the Aluksne triathlon is continued, as well as the Baltic championship is organized. Aluksne hosted 250 athletes.
TRI KAN is contributing to the creation of Riga Triathlon by taking on the construction of the cycling track.
TRI KAN organizes aquathlon with open water swimming for the first time in Latvia – Ādaži Aquathlon 2023.
“Alūksnes triatlons 2024” for the first time hosts the Youth Championship, welcoming athletes from neighboring countries! “Ādažu akvatlons 2024” gathers a record number of participants. At the general meeting of the Latvian Triathlon Federation, Māris and Evita were re-elected as board members, and Luksass was elected to the board. The TRI KAN board was expanded from three to five members, ensuring the expansion of the club’s future activities in various directions.
TRI KAN has taken on the most ambitious event to date – a two-day competition in Alūksne, including an open water swim, relays, Youth Open Championship and Latvian Championship in the Olympic distance.
The range of distances offered by Ādaži Aquathlon 2025 will also be expanded.
