On 21st and 22nd June, in the spirit of the Midsummer celebrations, we held one of the largest triathlon competitions in Latvia \u2013 Al\u016bksne Triathlon Days. This year was special with several novelties \u2013 the competition took place for the first time over two days, and already on the first day, athletes debuted in the open water swim in Al\u016bksne!<\/p>\n

Although the weather was chilly and slightly rainy, it was not an obstacle for more than 260 athletes who went to Al\u016bksne to dive into the water on the first day - participating in open water swimming and relays - but on the second day to prove their strength in triathlon disciplines. These were important competitions - just like last year, young people fought for medals in the Latvian Open Youth Championship, but this year the strongest athletes competed in the Latvian Championship in the standard distance.<\/p>\n

We are especially pleased with the large number of participants in the relays \u2013 8 teams measured their strength in the triathlon relay, and 6 more teams started in the people's relay. The relays were a great opportunity not only for experienced athletes, but also for local Al\u016bksne residents to get to know the charm of the triathlon sport.<\/p>\n

We would like to thank everyone who helped make this competition a real holiday - from the organizing team and volunteers to the athletes themselves, who did not hesitate to travel the long way to Aluksne. Of course, a big thank you to our sponsors - without whom we would not have gotten so far. We also thank the spectators, participants' relatives, friends and all fans who helped create a special holiday atmosphere on these cool but beautiful days.<\/p>

Latvian Triathlon Federation (LTF) is the main organization supervising triathlon sport in Latvia. We are proud that three TRI KAN members are working in the LTF board.<\/p>

Evita Leit\u0101ne<\/b>, who has been elected to the LTF Board for the second time, is developing the triathlon referee movement in Latvia, ensuring that competent and educated triathlon referees judge triathlon competitions in Latvia. Evita is the head of the LTF Referee Council.<\/h6>
M\u0101ris Liepa<\/b> also elected to the LTF Board for the second term. M\u0101ris develops the Latvian Cup regulations, the Licensing regulations, as well as the minimum standards for competitions. As an internationally certified triathlon coach, M\u0101ris is also actively involved in the LTF Coaching Council.\u00a0<\/h6>
Lukass Lappuke<\/b> Lukas was elected to the LTF Board for the first time and, thanks to his enthusiasm and vision, received the support of LTF legal members to work in the Board! Lukas is working on improving the visual identity of the federation and digitizing processes at LTF so that the work of LTF would be more transparent and triathletes would have easier access to LTF services.<\/h6>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

After marathons and triathlons, ultramarathons and 24-hour running races, Tri Kan Club members Iain and Lucas tested their physical and mental endurance in an unprecedented physical challenge!\u00a0<\/p>

The two friends ran, cycled and swam the Baltic Way route in two days to mark the 35th anniversary of the Baltic Way, to discover the role freedom plays in our unity and courage.<\/span><\/p>

In total, from Tallinn to Vilnius, 11.4 km had to be swum in the Harku Lake in Tallinn, 570 km cycled and 126.6 km run.<\/b><\/h6>

Aijens and Lukass were the first to complete the Baltic Way in this way, thus reminding of the Baltic Way, a unique historical event when in 1989 the people of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined hands to stand up for the independence and freedom of their countries.<\/p>
